Wolves in the Walls

“Fable Studio put a lot of work into making Lucy believable as an interactive character. This included teaming up with New York’s immersive theater company Third Rail for choreography and motion capture…”

The exciting opportunity to become a part of the creative team of Wolves in the Walls came out of a short consultation at the Oculus Story Studio.  In a meeting with director Pete Billington and his team, two questions came up: What if the script for a VR film was embodied with live performers, the way we draft our immersive scenes? Could this process offer the director a chance to experience a rough draft of the film in a live format and try out different possibilities with the performers?

It was an experiment worth trying and we discovered the overlap between creating immersive performances and virtual reality, choreographing what would essentially feel like a continuous dance between the characters and the viewer. Bringing our skills together a year later, we crafted a unique onboarding experience for Wolves in the Walls at the Tribeca Film Festival that served as a seamless narrative transition into and out of the headset.
